EyecareX has been selected for the Google for Startups Accelerator: Canada, a ten-week, equity-free program that pairs high-potential Canadian startups with Google engineers and mentors to sharpen their AI and cloud technology. We're one of 14 AI-driven startups from across the country named to the 2026 cohort, and one of two BC companies selected this year.

Through the accelerator, the EyecareX team works directly with Google engineers and mentors on the technology that powers our AI-native optometry practice management platform: the AI scribing models behind charting on autopilot, the cloud infrastructure that keeps Canadian patient data secure and in-country, and the machine learning pipeline behind our smartphone-based pre-visit testing.

Why it matters

Optometry clinics trust us with clinical workflows and patient data, and that trust is built on engineering quality. Access to Google's AI and cloud expertise helps us ship features faster while holding the bar on privacy, security, and reliability that healthcare demands — the same standard behind our Health Canada clearance and PIPEDA compliance.

Selection into the program is also a signal we don't take lightly: the problems we're solving for independent eye care practices are big enough to matter on a national stage. Since launching in Canada in 2020, the Google for Startups Accelerator has supported 145 startups that have collectively raised over $580 million CAD — good company for a platform built to give optometry practice management software in Canada a real AI-native alternative.
